SV Wanderer

Our first boat was Wanderer, a 1974 Pearson 35. We bought her in 2020, amidst the isolation, uncertainty, and hope that wove through our experience in that difficult time. She was well loved when we got her, but needed some significant work to make her ready for the kinds of travel we’re doing.

We spent 4 years doing so, replacing her engine, rigging, sails, and electrical system, adding modern electronics and new ground tackle. We outfitted her with safety gear, redid all of her upholstery, redid her galley and salon, and replaced her aging brightwork. As we did, we also began learning to sail. With the help of Blackrock Sailing in Boston, we completed our ASA 101, 103, and 104 classes, and in 2024 Kevin earned his ASA 105 (coastal navigation) certification from them.

In 2024, as we looked to venture further out from our New England home, we parted ways with her - but to a phenomenal new owner who was motivated to continue her upkeep and take her on new adventures!
