Selling Wanderer

Shrink wrapped beauty.

Joy here…while Kevin has been gone I became a de facto boat broker, in that I invited a potential buyer (who’d contacted Kevin via the boat listing) to see the boat, and facilitated getting a ladder and getting us both into the tight space, as the boat is shrink wrapped. He was very kind, and obviously impressed by all the work Kevin had done, and confessed that he’d been reviewing the listing and upgrades over and over so that he felt familiar with the systems and knew what it was all worth. He had not bought a boat before, and I asked if he was a Pearson fan, to which he said yes, but no more so than the other boats he was interested in. Even so, after a pretty brief viewing, only about 20 minutes or so, we climbed down the ladder and he said he thought he might like to be the next steward of Wanderer. That was nice, I thought, but it was only one viewing, and I had a long drive ahead of me to the storage units to spend the day pulling out things to photograph to sell. I didn’t get home for another 8 or 9 hours, at which point that was a distant memory.

So I was quite surprised when I heard that he’d scheduled a survey during the week, and then that he put in an offer and put down a deposit! Amazing news! My brain had barely wrapped itself around this before I found out that he wanted to close this weekend. Which meant four hours of taking everything off the boat Saturday AM, driving it to storage in MA, and then on Sunday getting a UHaul to drive up to MA, loading up all the soft goods (my cushion handiwork!), sails, davits, solar arch, bimini, dodger windows, etc, and then meeting up with him to transfer all the goods, sign over the title, etc. It all happened SO FAST.

The Subaru makes up for lack of power with sheer capacity.

There can be no question about my packing abilities.

He was a pleasure to work with, and his excitement about owning Wanderer is palpable. I am really happy she has a new owner who will love her and sail her. I miss Kevin tremendously, and it was tough to figure everything out via text and FaceTime, but WE DID IT! So happy for this next chapter!
